About the Chaldean Calculation Method

The Chaldean system does not assign numbers to letters simply according to their alphabetical sequence. Instead, letters are grouped according to their perceived vibrational relationships, creating the following traditional allocation:

1 — A I J Q Y
2 — B K R
3 — C G L S
4 — D M T
5 — E H N X
6 — U V W
7 — O Z
8 — F P

The number 9 is traditionally treated differently. Rather than being routinely assigned to letters within the alphabetic structure, it is generally left separate and regarded as carrying a distinct or intensified symbolic status.

When calculating a name or word, the numerical value of each letter is added together to produce a compound number, which is then reduced to its root. For example:

ASTRRID = 1 + 3 + 4 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 4 = 17/8

In my work, I retain both parts of the result because the compound and root numbers provide different layers of information. A 17/8, for example, is not interpreted as interchangeable with every other number that reduces to 8.

For numerical entries such as dates, the calculator simply adds the individual digits together while retaining the compound result before reduction.
